Walking Alone, Slavonice

the town is famous for the drawings on its buildings— many bible stories, many faces of fathers
Pam described the city as a Renaissance princess with Medieval bones
the whole country feels old as stone, genius loci
it wasn't just the cold that made my heart feel like a ton of bricks
i think there are worlds of pain in this landscape
here at the center of central europe, the intertidal zone of waves of conquest
so many layers of history, so many transitions
